A friend kindly took a picture of this little beauty on his recent trip to a medical museum. This body-worn hearing aid might be familiar to you if you had a relative with one. My beloved granny had one, wearing the microphone around her neck, with a wire up to the ear mould.
Perhaps we should think twice about complaining about having to wear one of today’s lightweight, discreet and beautifully coloured hearing aids with their comfortable silicon tips and flexible ear wires? When you look back on the good old days you can see how far we’ve come!
Even the current NHS aids (above pic taken when changing my husband over to a new set) aren’t so bad!
And if you’re really lucky you’ll be able to get away with this little beauty, assuming you can find the battery, which is about the size of a baby’s thumbnail.
